13 months

Baby BlogI'm not really sure what to update here - it's a month that has flown by. She's babbling more, taking steps here and there, and got through a nasty cold/cough.

Otherwise it's a bit blurry. We keep expecting teeth to pop in as she's drooling like mad, but so far still only the 6.

I'll keep posting as new things happen. I'm really really hoping for her first word soon.

A little sad, I am

Baby BlogToday is Moira's third day without breastfeeding. While I'm glad that she hasn't kicked up much of a fuss over being weaned, I am a little saddened. My baby is growing up.

On the upside, I am no longer sporting any teeth marks and can consume food and drink without having to be constantly worried about the effect on her :p

I wish I'd caught it on video

Baby BlogThe other day Moira got a hold of a box of tissues and I let her go to town. She happily pulled them all out of the box, one at a time. Sometimes she'd pause and offer me one, then go back to rapidly yanking them out.

There was a big pile of tissues when the box was emptied out as it had been almost full. Moira was thrilled and plopped down on her tummy, on the tissue covered hardwood floor, and proceeded to "swim" through them. She giggled and laughed. Her tissue playtime was not unlike how adults act in movies when in possession of a large pile of cash :)

We left them out for a couple days. Once or twice we stuffed them all back into the box for removal again. All the shredded and crumpled tissues have been tossed now and Moira hasn't grabbed a box yet. I even offered her one today (only a few tissues were left).

I think it's because she's discovered how to reach and pull off the toilet paper in the second bathroom...

How Moira uses IM

Baby BlogBrea and I often use IM to communicate throughout the day when I'm at work. However that can be a problem when your child decides she wants to talk as well.

Homecoming Ritual

Baby BlogEvery day that I come home from the work the same things happen. It never fails to brighten my day and warm my heart.

No matter how bad my day at work has been, seeing my smiling child makes it all disappear.

Read on for the details of our "Daddy's home!' ritual.

Cough Cough

Baby BlogMoira has had a bit of a chest cold for a while and with it a rather nasty sounding cough. While she doesn't seem too put out, aside from the nasal congestion that sometimes interferes with sleep and results in the hated nose cleaning, it is a bit distressing to hear her hacking away.

She's also now passed it along to me, of course.

*hack hack*

Darcy now dreads the inevitable infection...

On the verge

Baby BlogMoira has been working on some milestones lately and, though she not quite there yet, walking and talking seem very close...

Yay for dirt

I liked this article. Who knew that getting worms could be a good thing?

On a side note, I don't like using antibacterial soaps in general. There seems little point and overuse may actual do some harm as well.

Stickers - Everything has a message

Baby BlogSo, at the end of Moira's 1 year checkup the nurse practioner opened a drawer and sifted through a pile of little stickers. Commenting on how good a girl Moira was she presented her with a sticker as a reward.

A sticker of Ariel.

A Disney princess?

Uhhh no. Not to paint with too broad a brush but when I think of the qualities of the Disney princesses I don't think of any that I would like Moira to emulate.

So after the nurse had left I opened up the drawer. Mostly to see if I could find something more agreeable to me.

I flipped through some cars and trucks when I came across Tigress.

Heh, now here is somebody I can get behind.
